Africa-Press – Eswatini. Inyatsi Group-Maloma Colliery has retrenched over two hundred(200) workers.
It has been disclosed that, the workers were served with retrenchment letters a few weeks ago, the mining company cited financial challenges.
Efforts to reach the Maloma Management proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
Reached for comments, Wander Mkhonza, the Secretary General of the Amalgamated Trade Union of Swaziland(ATUSWA) says, the mining company consulted them before the retrenchment but some workers complained with the calculations of their terminal benefits.
“It’s true that Maloma Mine has retrenched over 200 workers, we were consulted as a union before the retrenchment and workers were paid their terminal benefits. But some workers are complaining about the wrong calculations of their terminal benefits and we are addressing that with the Management,” said the ATUSWA Secretary General.
