Khumalo Warns Parliament on Drug Supply Trust Issues

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Marwick Khumalo, the Lobamba Lomdzala Member of Parliament(MP) has warned Parliament against allowing Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini to procure drugs through the National Emergency Response Council on HIV/AIDS(NERCHA) or the National Disaster Management Agency(NDMA).

The PM was previously exposed by the Office of the Auditor General(AG) for allegedly looting over R200million COVID-19 funds while working as the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the National Disaster Management Agency(NDMA), other MPs reminded him about the missing public funds when he delivered his health crisis report on Thursday.

Now, the Lobamba Lomdzala MP has warned MPs to guard against allowing the PM to come near the procurement of drugs, he said even the proposal to have drugs procured by NERCHA or NDMA was clearly not a Cabinet resolution.

“It’s clear that, the Prime Minister and the entire Cabinet did not collectively passed a resolution on this proposal seeking to procure drugs through NERCHA or NDMA. Bahlangene ngetulu njengelihlindzafuku. We must have other suppliers not NMDA or NERCHA”, said the Lobamba Lomdzala MP.

NERCHA is under the Prime Minister’s Office and the PM is alleged to be vigorously pushing to have the multibillion drugs procured through “NERCHA or NDMA where he has control”.
