Africa-Press – Eswatini. Emaswati are advised to work cooperatively during the ongoing harvesting season.
The king said this on May 17, 2025 at Ngabezweni Royal Residence when he dispersed Emabutfo, after the successful harvesting of the Royal fields.
Cooperation, according to the king, helps in making sure that a task is implemented easily and efficiently. The same thing applies to harvesting.
The king said during the harvesting of the Royal fields, Emabutfo set a good example by showing that unity is what is needed when harvesting.
Because of that, the king said Emabutfo were able to harvest diligently and were able to ensure that they left no stone unturned when they harvested. They were able to harvest all of the maize from the Royal fields to the maize cribs in order for the crops to be stored in a perfect manner.
Now that the harvesting of the Royal fields, the king advised that Emaswati should do the same in their respective chiefdoms. The king said they should start harvesting from their Royal kraals (Imiphakatsi) so that these institutions should always have enough food.
The same thing should also be done in every homes in all the chiefdoms across the country. This will help in making sure that everyone has enough food in order to decrease hunger in the country.
The advice of His Majesty the King resonates with the plea that was sent across by Minister of Agriculture Mandla Tshawuka, just before the current harvesting season. Tshawuka said 30% of whatever crop that is harvested usually never makes it to the place where it is supposed to be stored.
Therefore, Tshawuka pleaded with farmers to ensure they exercised extreme caution when they harvested, in order to ensure that enough food was obtained from the fields.
