Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III has called for landlocked and developing countries to receive financial support from global partnerships and other international organisations to ensure access to markets, technologies, and sustainable financing, while advancing social development.
The message was delivered at the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2) in Doha, Qatar, by Deputy Prime Minister Senator Thulisile Dladla, who departed Eswatini on 2 November 2025 from King Mswati III International Airport to represent the King at the summit.
The King also assured that Eswatini continues to provide opportunities for women, promoting their participation in leadership roles across all sectors of the economy. Furthermore, he confirmed that the Government will continue supporting youth-focused programmes and sustaining the Regional Development Fund, which seeks to improve the livelihoods of Emaswati in rural areas.
“Eswatini believes that the social development of landlocked and developing nations must be supported by global partnerships and other international organisations,” DPM Dladla told world leaders on behalf of the King.
The summit brings together global leaders to assess progress on social development and to renew commitments first made at the 1995 Copenhagen Summit. While those commitments aimed to reduce poverty, promote equality, and improve social security, the United Nations has warned that many of these goals remain under threat.
Dladla highlighted challenges affecting Eswatini and other nations, including youth unemployment and limited access to basic services such as clean water, education, and healthcare. She stressed that Eswatini is committed to implementing national strategies while leveraging global partnerships and international organisations to advance sustainable development.
