Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III has applauded the Royal Eswatini Police Service for its growing operational capabilities and commitment to national security.
Speaking during the annual Police Day celebrations, the King praised the 198 new recruits for their exceptional drills, precision, and innovative special operations displays.
“The motorcycles, formations, and tactical performances show creativity and readiness to meet contemporary safety and security challenges,” the King said, commending the force for embracing change and technology as tools to strengthen policing.
Acknowledging the dynamic nature of crime, driven by technological advancements and evolving criminal tactics, His Majesty urged officers to remain vigilant, proactive, and open to continuous learning. “Technology is not a threat to your work,” he emphasized. “If used properly, it becomes a powerful tool in your service to the nation.”
He further encouraged timely police responses to potential threats, highlighting that swift action prevents escalation and reassures citizens in distress. The King reiterated that the badge’s motto, SILIHAWU LEMBHUBE NESIVE (“The shield of the lion and the nation”), reflects the police’s role as protectors of the people.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including SADC police chiefs, whose presence underscored the regional cooperation in combating crime. His Majesty noted that these partnerships, along with legislative developments promoting uniformity in law enforcement, align with both SADC’s vision and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
In conclusion, His Majesty expressed deep appreciation to the business community and stakeholders supporting police outreach initiatives, reaffirming that national security is a shared responsibility. “Nawe uliphoyisa — you too are the police,” he reminded the nation.
