Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III has officially welcomed 198 newly appointed police officers into the Royal Eswatini Police Service, praising them for answering a noble call to protect and serve the nation.
Speaking at the Matsapha Police Academy during the annual Police Day celebrations, the King lauded the graduates for their dedication and discipline throughout their training. “You have chosen the career of policing, which is about serving the nation and protecting it from the perils of crime and other social misdemeanours,” he said.
His Majesty reminded the recruits that they were joining an institution built on teamwork, trust, and public service. “You will be joining officers who came before you, and as you work with them, we urge you to adapt to the principles of teamwork, which is very important in police work,” he emphasized.
The King described policing as a full-time, all-time vocation. “You are expected to live and represent your calling at all times, 24/7,” he stated, urging the new officers to uphold integrity and commitment in every duty they undertake.
The event, attended by dignitaries, SADC police chiefs, and hundreds of families, featured an impressive passing-out parade showcasing precision drills, motorcycle formations, and special operations tactics. His Majesty said these displays reflected the recruits’ readiness to meet contemporary safety and security challenges.
He also encouraged the officers to embrace technology and continuous training to stay ahead of evolving crime trends. “Technology is not a threat to your work; if used properly, it becomes a tool to capacitate you in your line of service,” he advised.
The King concluded by urging the graduates to maintain close relationships with the public, promote trust, and work in collaboration with other stakeholders for the safety and security of all Emaswati. “Your badge declares that you are the shield and protection of the nation. Live up to that promise,” he said.
With these appointments, the Royal Eswatini Police Service strengthens its frontline with a new generation of officers, ready, equipped, and inspired to serve.
