Africa-Press – Eswatini. Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini says, the Eswatini Electricity Company(EEC) must forget about increasing electricity as the company “is generating profits”.
Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, the Prime Minister stated categorically clear that, the proposed increase was too high and therefore, he will not approve it.
“It won’t make any economic sense to impose another electricity increase to emaSwati at this time”, said the Prime Minister who received a round of applause from the Members of Parliament(MP).
The PM then urged MPs to encourage emaSwati in the various constituencies, to vigorously oppose this proposed increase before the regulator during the consultation meetings. He maintained that he will also play a role and reject the proposal at Cabinet level.
