Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini’s popular comedy quartet, Gogo, S’lwane, Slim Bee, and Hembe, is leveraging its viral influence to confront a pressing social challenge: men’s mental health.

The group, known for the national TikTok hit ‘Lugodvo Kimi’, is spearheading the innovative ‘Mfowethu, u Grend?’ Men’s Mental Health Camp, scheduled to take place from December 19 to 21, 2025, at the scenic Malolotja Nature Reserve.

The camp, which is strictly men, only, is the brainchild of the Gogo & S’lwane Care Foundation. It aims to create a sanctuary where men can openly discuss and confront mental health challenges without fear of judgment, directly addressing the escalating crisis among men in Eswatini and beyond.

The comedy quartet will integrate their famous routine into the event, featuring a special comedy and reality showcase titled ‘Lugodvo Kimi.’

The motivation behind the groundbreaking initiative was explained by S’lwane with stark clarity, referencing the visible signs of distress across society. “We looked within ourselves, searched within our own families and communities. We read newspapers, saw it on TV and heard about it on radio. Worse, even our social media timelines are littered with it. From the attempted suicides to the completed ones, to the sexual and gender, based violence,” S’lwane stated. “The red flags are all over us, unmistakable. The crisis that is men’s mental ill, health is one we felt we can no longer ignore.”

Gogo Eswatini echoed this sense of urgency, viewing the initiative as a moral responsibility tied to their public platform. He highlighted the societal turmoil they witness frequently: “At some point, one feels like their influence is pointless if it is not fully leveraged to help better the lives of the people who make us what we are as influencers or public figures. Particularly, in such a troubled world as ours lately; every other weekend we are either burying a friend or a relative due to suicide or we are reading in the papers that Man X has butchered Woman X, which to us will always be troubling.”

At the core of ‘Mfowethu uGrend?’ lies a powerful philosophy: healing men today is essential for the health, prosperity, and stability of future generations. The camp is designed to facilitate open dialogue and provide participants with coping mechanisms for the heavy burdens men often carry in silence. The three, day program will be moderated by Mfundo “Ndosh” Simelane and will feature prominent voices from various fields, including Mtera Thwala, Clement Dlamini, Malungelo Mamba, Lethumusa Simelane, and Dumsani “Njobo” Mamba. Gogo Eswatini and S’lwane will personally host the event, guiding participants through the sensitive program with empathy and understanding.

This innovative camp marks a bold step by Eswatini’s creative community to transform entertainment influence into meaningful social change, ensuring that the question ‘Mfowethu uGrend?’ (Brother, are you okay?) becomes a catalyst for real healing.
