Africa-Press – Eswatini. IMPRESSIVE best describes the inaugural Makoti festival, which was hosted by New Life Entertainment at Malkerns Country Club on Saturday.

From the ambience, stalls, stage, different arenas to performances, everything was on point.

Thousands OF fun lovers attended the festival and they had the best time of their lives. While most people on social media thought this was a festival for only women, they were wrong as the festival was dominated by men as well who were ready to be entertained by the acts of the day.

The day started with different performances such as fashion show, sibhaca and umniso. On the main stage, gospel artists such as Banele Dlamini and Nothando Dlamini heated the stage and delivered an energetic and praise songs, respectively. They were one of the crowd pullers of the day.

Jumbo of ‘Wena Nkhosi Uyazi’ fame had fans eating from the palm of his hands with his performance. He left his mark on the makoti stage. His performance attracted high profile attendees from the VVIP such as Reverend Johannes Mazibuko, who left his seat for the stage and danced to Jumbo’s performance. He was later joined by other gospel artists who had performed earlier.

The main act of the night, Zahara was ready as she gave an emotional and fun performance. She mounted the stage at exactly 10pm with her gospel song taken from the public domain ‘Liza Lisidinga Lakho’. She gave different versions of the song and fused it with other gospel songs.

Memory

She later greeted her fans and took them down memory lane as she performed songs from her debut album ‘Loliwe’, Umthalo wami uyang’sinda’, ‘Bengi’wrongo’, ‘Phendula’, to name a few. It was evident that Emaswati love Zahara as they sang along to every song she performed.

She revealed that she was celebrating 11 years in the industry and thanked the organisers of the fest for making sure that Eswatini was one of the countries to perform for.

The festival ended on a high as the Bishops made sure fun lovers danced the night away with their set.
