Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini Air aircraft is allegedly experiencing mechanical challenges and as result, passengers were grounded on Sunday and booked in the various Hotels in Manzini.
The Royal Eswatini National Airways Corporation(RENAC) is operating the Eswatini Air, connecting Eswatini with a few countries within the Southern African Development Community(SADC) region that include the Republic of South Africa and Zimbabwe.
President Qiniso Dlamini Dlamini, the Eswatini Air Chief Executive Officer(CEO) had not responded to questions at the time of compiling this report.
After receiving the information and confirmation from officials within the King Mswati International Airport, this journalist used the global flight tracing and monitoring system and indeed, it was further confirmed that Eswatini Air aircraft Embraer number ERJ145 was grounded.
It has been disclosed that, the Eswatini Air has become a huge frustration and, an inconvenience for passengers traveling between South Africa, eSwatini and Zimbabwe.
But on Sunday, only one aircraft was operating however, on Wednesday(6th August 2025), the remaining aircraft also experienced mechanical challenges and as a result, the Management decided to rent another flight to transport the customers who had already booked and purchased the air tickets but grounded.
It is alleged that, in the midst of this inconvenience, tourists, businesspeople and members of the public traveling to other countries missed their flights at the Oliver(OR) Tambo International Airport.
Worth-nothing, during the official launch of Eswatini Air by the Royal Eswatini National Airways, members of the public expressed serious concerns on social media, saying one aircraft was visibly old and therefore, will not be a reliable mode of transport.
