The Ministry of Public Works and Transport took a decisive step to prioritize employee health and community well-being by officially launching its Wellness Open Day at Mafutseni on Friday, March 27, 2026, an initiative that will run until 9 April 2026. The programme reinforces the Ministry’s commitment to creating a healthy, productive workforce while strengthening support for surrounding communities.
The launch was attended by high-level leadership, including the Manzini Regional Administrator and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Eswatini, reflecting the collaborative spirit of the initiative. The event was organized in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the University of Eswatini to provide a comprehensive platform that combines health awareness, personal development, and social support services.
A highlight of the launch was the announcement of a new borehole at Mafutseni, which will provide a reliable water supply to support the facility and ongoing wellness programmes. This initiative demonstrates forward-thinking leadership and the Ministry’s commitment to sustainability and employee well-being.
Participants also benefited from presentations by the City of Refuge Rehabilitation Centre, which shared details of its 24-day detox programme and plans to expand services, including advanced oxygen and ozone therapies in Manzini. These developments aim to enhance rehabilitation support in the region and provide accessible recovery options for individuals battling substance abuse.
In his address, the Honorable Minister encouraged the inclusion of physical activities in future wellness programmes, emphasizing that active lifestyles are central to overall health. He also commended staff and stakeholders whose dedication ensured the success of the event, highlighting the value of teamwork and collaboration in delivering impactful initiatives.
