Africa-Press – Eswatini. Mozambique’s President Daniel Chapo extended an invitation to business professionals from Eswatini to explore significant business opportunities in Mozambique during a meeting on June 9, 2025 at the Royal Villas in Ezulwini.

This meeting is part of President Chapo’s working visit to Eswatini, which began at 11 AM and will conclude on June 10, 2025.

– Vast Opportunities: President Chapo emphasized that Mozambique offers numerous opportunities across various sectors, particularly in energy and tourism.

– Energy Sector:

– Mozambique is rich in natural gas, coal, and other minerals, which can be utilized for electricity generation.

– Plans are underway to build a 540MW power plant in Inhambane, aimed at supplying electricity to the SADC region, including Eswatini.

– The president noted the potential for renewable energy sources, such as rivers, sun, and wind, which could promote environmentally friendly electricity production.

– Tourism Sector:

– Mozambique boasts a long coastline and beautiful islands, yet has significant work to do in developing its tourism industry.

– President Chapo highlighted the disparity in golf tourism, mentioning that while South Africa has over 500 golf courses and Eswatini has many, Mozambique currently has only one underdeveloped golf course.

Collaboration Between Eswatini and Mozambique

– President Chapo called for cooperation between the Confederation of Private Sectors and Economic Association of Mozambique (CTA) and Business Eswatini (BE) to leverage the business opportunities available.

– Both countries could enhance investments and productivity in sectors such as agriculture, transport, and education by learning from each other.

Support from Local Leaders

– Minister of Health Mduduzi Matsebula, representing the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, expressed gratitude for President Chapo’s visit and underscored Mozambique’s commitment to collaboration with Eswatini.

– BE President Mvuselelo Fakudze thanked the president and emphasized the need to eliminate barriers hindering business and economic growth.

– Alvaro Massingue, CTA President said Mozambique exported goods worth US$19 million to Eswatini, while importing goods amounting to US$54 million from the same country.

– Custodia Paunde, State Secretary for Industry in Mozambique, stressed the importance of creating one-stop shops in both countries to streamline operations and reduce any existing bottlenecks.
