Africa-Press – Eswatini. Themba Msibi, the Lubombo Regional Administrator (RA) and former Parliament Speaker passed special congratulations editor Zweli Martin Dlamini for the establishment of the Swaziland News.

This was during an interview on Wednesday morning after the editor contacted Msibi seeking clarity if he could consider recommending his former Personal Secretary and former Times journalist Senzo Dlamini to be appointed as the Government Spokesperson, the RA then congratulated the editor mitigating media capture in the country.

“I remember Nkhosi when I was the Speaker in Parliament over ten years ago, you came to me watsi akusasesenteki, the media has been captured. Kodvwa ngikhumbula kahle washo kutsi utawuvula a media company that will change all this, namuhla labanye noma bangeke basho, sishobela phansi kwematafula kanye nabo noma sisemihlanganweni sifundze tindzaba latincengweni. Ngitsi nje angikubongele nje Nkhosi ngoba media asisho kutsi ayibhale tsine kahle kodvwa media ayibonakale kutsi lena yi-media ibhala tindzaba,” the former Parliament Speaker.

The editor approached the then Parliament Speaker in an attempt to have a Parliament motion seeking to discuss media capture however at the time, he was overpowered by members of a well-connected media and political syndicate who influenced the closure of his newspaper known as the Swaziland Shopping.

Dlamini subsequently registered an online publication in South Africa known as the “Swaziland News” in 2018 and received huge international support, the Swaziland News is a member of the Press Council of South Africa and affiliating to other international media organizations.
