Africa-Press – Eswatini. From the quiet community of Ntfonjeni near Pig’s Peak, a rising star is carving out his space in Eswatini’s music industry. Born in Mbabane and raised in Maphalaleni, upcoming artist Msuthomkhulu has been steadily building his career since 2021, inspired by South African music heavyweight, Big Zulu.
Speaking about his journey, Msuthomkhulu said he discovered his love for music by constantly listening to Big Zulu, whose style and storytelling deeply moved him. “Big Zulu and his team inspired me. I want my music to give people a message about life and bring them comfort in their spirit,” he shared.
Despite the challenges of breaking through, especially when established artists are hesitant to share the stage with him after hearing his work, Msuthomkhulu remains determined. “Sometimes after hearing my stuff, they don’t give me space on stage, knowing I am stronger than them,” he admitted.
His biggest highlight so far has been performing at Mkhuzweni, where the crowd received him with excitement, with many saying he reminded them of Big Zulu. That reception strengthened his belief that he is on the right path.
For local inspiration, Msuthomkhulu looks up to Young Zesh, while internationally, he continues to follow Big Zulu closely. He hopes to one day collaborate with both artists, saying: “In Eswatini I wish to be with Young Zesh, and in South Africa, I wish to be with Big Zulu.”
Beyond his talent, Msuthomkhulu says humility and gratitude are the core of his artistry. “I always make sure my audience is happy. I don’t have pride because I am where I am because of them.”
Looking to the future, Msuthomkhulu sees himself performing alongside Big Zulu and making his supporters proud. His message is clear, he is here not only to make music but to uplift spirits and inspire hope.
