Africa-Press – Eswatini. Children in the various schools are being taught about the importance of “kubutseka” and other Tinkhundla patriotism activities, in an effort to promote paying allegiance and loyalty to the Monarchy.

This was confirmed by Lot Vilakati, the Secretary General of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) who was asked to clarify information suggesting that, the “Tinkhundla regime is targeting schools to blind children at a young age and manipulate” them to support the Monarchy.

“It’s true, the Government is calling it patriotism and then you ask yourself, kutabasita ngani nje bantfwana kufundza ngekubutseka while children in other countries are learning about engineering and technology among other subjects. Ngiko labantfwana bacedza sikolwa, graduate bangatfoli umsebenti ngoba kute lentfo labayifundzako latikolweni”, he said.

Acting Government Spokesperson Thabile Mdluli declined to comment.

On another note, the SNAT Secretary General said, the new syllabus introduced by Government is causing confusion within the schools as most teachers are not qualified to teach about kubutseka and other siSwati activities.

“Imagine instructing a teacher who grew-up at Dalrich-Mbabane to teach about “sidvudvu”, akasati futsi akazange sekasidle kwasona lesidvudvu”, he said.

Tinkhundla, the oppressive system of the Monarchy is undemocratic, political parties are banned and not allowed to participate in elections.

Culture is being manipulated to blind the people and promote the institution of the Monarchy while songs condemning democracy are composed during cultural events.
