Africa-Press – Eswatini. Residents here at Hlathikhulu in the Southern parts of Eswatini are forced to pay large amounts of money but, drink muddy water.
The water crisis that erupted in the Hhohho and Manzini Regions in areas that include Ezulwini, Mbabane, Lobamba, Ngwane Park is now spreading to Hlathikhulu, one of the main towns of the Shiselweni Region.
“We have been drinking this muddy water despite paying huge amounts of money every month,” said one of the residents.
But Jabulile Mashwama, the Managing Director of the Water Services recently released an online statement, urging the public not to blame her or the State owned company but, dirty water pipes.
The Managing Director further urged the public to flush the water into a container for thirty(30) seconds to two(2) minutes before drinking.
“Sediments accumulation in your homestead pipes may result in dirty water. Flush the water into a container for 30 seconds to 2 minutes to clear the water, and use the collected water for non-drinking purposes like watering plants,” reads the statement in part.
Eswatini Water Services Corporation was providing clean and quality water under the leadership of the late Managing Director Peter Bhembe but, the State owned company started to collapse after King Mswati appointed his mother-in-law to administrate it.
Mashwama is allegedly spending millions on projects to which she stands to benefit, she is a member of the powerful and politically connected Jesus Calls Worship Centre (JCWC) syndicate harvesting State resources.
