Africa-Press – Eswatini. Mark your calendars for an event that promises to be a spectacular celebration of creativity and resilience!
The Music and Arts Festival for Persons with Disabilities is officially set for September 27th, 2025, as announced at the official launch which was held at the Luke Commission Hall at Sidvokodvo yesterday, June 25, 2025.
This festival is not just another date on the calendar; it’s a groundbreaking initiative born from an inspiring moment at last year’s Job and Entrepreneurship Symposium. The idea took flight thanks to the passionate gospel artist Sabelo Matse and was brought to life by the Acting Prime Minister Hon. Thulisile Dladla.
The launch was nothing short of magical, with Dladla joined by notable figures including Minister of Sports and Culture Bongani Nzima and celebrated gospel stars like Sipho Makhabane, Phetsile Masilela, Nothando Dlamini, Linda Dlamini, and Mshikishi Mdzebele.
“This is more than an event, it’s a platform,” declared Dladla. “A declaration that disability is not inability,”she shared. This festival will spotlight musicians, poets, painters, dancers, and storytellers who will share their voices, instruments, and hands to express their rich identities, resilience, and creativity.
The festival also marks a significant step forward in the kingdom’s dedication to implementing the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Specifically, it emphasizes Article 30, which champions the right of persons with disabilities to engage fully in cultural life, recreation, leisure, and sport.
Dladla is committed to promoting inclusive cultural platforms, investing in accessible venues, and collaborating with organizations that support persons with disabilities. This means unlocking new economic opportunities in the creative industries, ensuring that everyone has a seat at the table.
This festival is not intended to be a one-time event. Dladla urged that it become an annual tradition, a movement that fosters visibility, representation, and the full participation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of national life.
Her heartfelt gratitude went out to the organizers, sponsors, and especially to The Luke Commission for providing such a fantastic venue.
As the countdown to September 27th, 2025, begins, Everyone is invited to join this vibrant celebration of talent and inclusion. Come together to celebrate the extraordinary abilities of persons with disabilities and champion a future where everyone can shine.
