Africa-Press – Eswatini. Ncami Mamba finds peace, passion, and purpose through beadwork. For Ezulwini-based artisan Ncamsile “Ncami” Mamba, beadwork is more than just a craft, it is a source of peace, income, and self-expression. Taught by her grandmother seven years ago, Ncami has transformed the skill into a way of life, creating unique designs inspired by tutorials she finds on YouTube and Facebook.
“When I’m not okay, I find peace when I do the beading,” she explains. Beyond its therapeutic value, beadwork has provided her with a steady means of earning money through the sale of her creations.
Like many local crafters, however, Ncami faces challenges. “The beads are costly in the market, and marketing is also not easy,” she admits. Yet she remains determined to grow her craft, fueled by her personal mantra: “If life gives you lemon, you must make lemon juice. Nothing is easy in this world.”
Her community has been supportive, appreciating her beadwork and encouraging her to dream bigger. And Ncami’s dream is ambitious: she hopes to one day own her own company dedicated to bead products of all kinds.
Apart from beadwork, Ncami is multi-talented. She also enjoys baking and produces liquid soap, showing her entrepreneurial spirit extends beyond just one craft.
To those looking to start their own creative journeys, she offers simple but powerful advice: “When you like something, you must go for it.”
With resilience, creativity, and the wisdom passed down by her grandmother, Ncami is steadily building her vision, one bead at a time.
