New Beginning for Bonkhe Shabangu'S Family in Kancesi

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Hope and relief filled KaNcesi on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, as Bonkhe Shabangu and his family were officially allocated a new plot of land by the Umphakatsi under Chief Mabaleka Mncina.

“This allocation marks a fresh start for my family,” said Shabangu in an interview with this publication. “It is a place where we can finally build a house to sleep in and call our own.”

From Loss to Opportunity

The family lost their two-bedroom home on August 22, 2025, following a court-ordered demolition. The house, removed using a Tractor-Loader-Backhoe (TLB), sparked widespread concern in the community over the use of force in settling disputes. Many residents were shocked by the dramatic enforcement of the court order, raising questions about dispute resolution practices in Eswatini.

Paul Dlamini, Chairperson of the King Advisory Council (Liqoqo), previously warned that resolving community disputes through violence damages Eswatini’s global image and undermines its progress toward First World status.

Community Support Needed

With the new land allocated, the Shabangu family is preparing to construct a modest two-bedroom house. The community is encouraged to assist by contributing E20, a bag of cement, blocks, or other building materials. To date, 500 blocks have already been ordered and are scheduled for delivery next week.

Residents and well-wishers can make contributions through the DonateBreadCampaign via 78637196 or donate building materials directly. Retail code: 029296. Every contribution, whether monetary or material, will help the family turn their newly allocated plot into a home.

A Fresh Start for KaNcesi

The allocation of land provides the Shabangu family with more than just shelter; it represents stability, dignity, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives. Community support will be vital in ensuring the successful completion of the new home, reinforcing the spirit of solidarity that KaNcesi is known for.

“This is more than just land; it is hope for our family and a chance to move forward,” said Bonkhe Shabangu.
