Sakhile ‘Awviva’ Nxumalo, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) Youth League- the Swaziland Youth Congress (SWAYOCO) was on Wednesday afternoon detained by the eSwatini police merely for demanding the release of all political prisoners amid human rights violations in the tiny Southern African Kingdom.
Eswatini is ruled by King Mswati as an absolute Monarch, political parties are banned while human rights defenders and political activists are arrested, tortured or even killed for demanding democracy.
Nxumalo was subsequently released without charge, according to a statement released by the PUDEMO Youth League later on Wednesday evening.
Nxumalo was targeted by the police for attending court cases of arrested political activists, demanding their unconditional release.
