Africa-Press – Eswatini. “Is it real? I would like to visit the community and meet the community leaders.”
This was the reaction of Prime Minister (PM) Russell Dlamini after learning about the plight of over 100 children who do not attend school due to being impoverished. The PM had been requested to shed light, as head of government, on what action his office would take to ensure that the plight of the children residing at Maphiveni community is addressed, in particular the unavailability of primary and high schools nearby. The PM wondered if the matter was real and stated that he would like to visit the community and meet the leaders.
This publication broke the story of the children’s harsh living conditions at this community due to poverty. Following the publication of the children’s plight, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Senator Thuli Dladla dispatched a team of officers, who visited the community to compile a report about the situation on the ground on Monday. Today, a mass meeting of residents of Maphiveni will be convened by the Office of the DPM to sensitise the community members about the registration of birth certificates for their children, among other issues.
