Inauguration of Pope Leo XIV

The primary purpose of their visit to Vatican City is to attend the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV, who was elected as the leader of the Catholic Church on May 8, 2025. The papal inauguration is scheduled for May 18, 2025, at 10am Rome time in St. Peter’s Square. Traditionally, the new Pope and other Catholic leaders visit St. Peter’s tomb inside the Basilica before the mass begins.

Participation in Zimbabwe’s Conference

Following their visit to Vatican City, the Prime Minister will participate in the Transfrontier Conservation Areas (TFCA) International Conference and Summit of Heads of State and Government in Zimbabwe. This event will take place from May 19 to 23, 2025, at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC). The summit will focus on the theme: “Transfrontier Conservation Areas – 25 years of cooperation for regional integration and sustainable development.”

TFCAs are crucial for promoting biodiversity conservation, sustainable resource use, and eco-tourism across national borders. They play a significant role in safeguarding ecosystems and wildlife, contributing to economic growth, enhancing regional cooperation, and empowering local communities.
