Africa-Press – Eswatini. The police have assured the nation that progress has been made regarding the investigation into the murder of Human Rights Lawyer Thulani Maseko.
This is according to Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, through a statement which stated that certain aspects which were pivotal in the investigation of the case were progressing. The statement read; “The Royal Eswatini Police Service notes that various entities, both local and international, have keen interest in the progress of the case involving the murder of one Thulani. Once all the technicalities are sorted, there will be a breakthrough.”

The police service assured the nation that the Royal Eswatini Police Service remained committed to bringing the perpetrators of such a violent crime to book and progress had been made in the investigation of the case. The statement further read; “Worth noting is that certain aspects that are key in the investigation of the case are progressing and the expectation is that once all the technicalities are sorted, there will be a breakthrough. As a police service, we would like to express sincere gratitude to members of the public for the continued unwavering support during the investigation of this case in particular.”
The deceased chairperson of the Multi-Stakeholders Forum (MSF) succumbed to three gunshot wounds, which were aimed and fired towards him in a cold-blooded murder. This happened at around 9:10pm on Saturday January 21, 2023. The assassination happened at KaLuhleko, which is a community located about 50 kilometres south-west of Manzini and about six kilometres from Bhunya. The family members, who were identified as elders of the Maseko family to this publication’s reporters, said two of the bullets were aimed and pierced through the head of the deceased, while the third reportedly penetrated his upper abdomen on the left side and exited from the right, leaving his body with a gash, almost the size of a tennis.
