Africa-Press – Eswatini. Crafty playmaker Sandile ‘Saviola’ Gamedze won his second 2022 Hollywoodbets COSAFA Cup man of the match award.
Despite missing at least two great chances, ‘Saviola’ was instrumental as Sihlangu forced Africa’s highest ranking nation Senegal to the lottery penalty shootouts after a 1-all draw in the 90 minutes regulation time. Sihlangu dropped to the second tier Plate Cup of the competition following the 11-10 defeat after penalty shootouts in this quarter-final tie played at the King Zwelithini Stadium here.
Sihlangu has produced games’ best players since the first game on July 6; Sifiso Matse winning it against Mauritius in a 3-0 win, Mzwandile ‘Viera’ Mabelesa in the heated 1-all draw against Malawi and ‘Saviola’ in the last group match 2-0 win over Lesotho.
In yesterday’s game, the MTN Premier League top goalscorer with 26 goals was awarded his prize by Mozambique legend Manuel ‘Tico-Tico’ Bucaune. Quicksilver striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa remains top of the 2022 edition scorers’ chart with three goals and will be hoping to add to his tally when Sihlangu faces Botswana’s Zebras in the semi-finals of the Plate Cup. The match is scheduled for a noon kick off at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
The 2022 Hollywood bets COSAFA Cup player of the tournament, top goal-scorer and goalkeeper of the tournament will each pocket E20 000. Following the defeat to Senegal, not making the last four of the main tournament means Sihlangu will bank zilch as prizes apply only to the top four nations with the champions guaranteed E500 000.
