History is poised to be made in the Shiselweni Region as over eleven local gospel artists prepare for a monumental live recording session as part of the inaugural Shiselweni Arts and Culture Festival. This extraordinary event will take place on Saturday, August 9th, from 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning, at Bethsida Church in Nhlangano.

The recording will feature a star-studded lineup of Shiselweni’s finest gospel talent, including Siya Bayas, Samkelo Kenny G, Hlobsile Shongwe, Bheki BS Sithole, Nhlanganiso Shongwe, and Mandla Mngometulu, alongside other powerful voices. The night will commence with an invigorating “Worship Hour” before transitioning into the highly anticipated live recording sessions.

“This is a moment of immense pride for Shiselweni. We are making history,” stated Kenny, Chairperson of the Shiselweni Gospel Artists Association. “We invite the public to come worship with us and witness this groundbreaking event. Details on ticket sales stations will be announced very soon.”

Artists are brimming with excitement for the big night. Hlobsile Shongwe shared, “I will be dishing out my praise and worship sound, and I wholeheartedly invite the public to come worship with us.” Nhlanganiso Shongwe echoed her sentiments, adding, “I am more than ready! We applaud the Eswatini National Arts and Culture Council CEO, Mr. Stanley Dlamini, for ensuring a level playing field for artists, regardless of their origin. The Council truly creates opportunities for everyone.”

The Shiselweni Arts and Culture Festival is a two-day celebration of local talent. Friday will feature schools’ drama, dance, and outdoor exhibitions at a local park. On Saturday, from morning until 5:00 PM, the Nhlangano Shopping Complex outside Shoprite will host diverse genres including Dance, Hip Hop, DJs, Poetry, and Drama, building up to the evening’s grand gospel recording.

“It is our mandate as the Eswatini National Arts and Culture Council to support regional associations in achieving their goals,” said Mr. Stanley Dlamini, CEO of the Eswatini National Arts and Culture Council. “These festivals will be hosted in all four regions, with the Hhohho Festival coming soon. We are diligently pushing the ‘Nkwe Vision’ championed by His Majesty, ensuring we promote untapped talent and create opportunities across the Kingdom.”

This landmark event promises to be a spiritual and cultural highlight, showcasing the rich talent of the Shiselweni region and marking a new chapter for gospel music in Eswatini.
