Africa-Press – Eswatini. A team of specialist doctors from the Amitofo Care Centre (ACC) in Singapore has arrived in Eswatini to provide free medical care to people who cannot afford specialized treatment. This initiative was hosted at Ezulwini Private Hospital (EPH) and in collaboration with the Mbabane Government Hospital (MGH).

The programme, which has been carried out by ACC across various countries in Africa for many years, is offering a wide range of services including general surgery, facial surgery and gynecology. All services are fully sponsored by the Amitofo Care Centre.

Jackie Lee, Vice President of ACC Singapore, said the mission is focused on helping people living below the poverty line who are unable to access quality health care. “This program is for everyone, regardless of age. We are here to provide relief to those in need.” she said.

Dr Thandeka Khanyile, CEO of Ezulwini Private Hospital, expressed pride in partnering with ACC, stating that the hospital is committed to long-term community service through corporate social investment.

“We are happy to be part of such a meaningful initiative. Our goal has always been to support efforts that reach people in need of proper medical care, and working with Amitofo Care Centre aligns with that vision,” said Dr Khanyile.

From the public health sector, Dr Mbuso Dlamini, Senior Medical Officer at Mbabane Government Hospital, welcomed the support, noting that public hospitals are often overwhelmed.

“We truly need this kind of help. Our hands are full most of the time, and this collaboration brings much-needed relief. The team is working closely with our doctors to attend to special cases that require advanced care. It’s a first of its kind in the country, and we hope to see more of it in the future,” said Dr Dlamini.

The presence of specialists from multiple medical fields is helping address a wide range of health concerns among Eswatini’s population. For many patients, this initiative offers a rare opportunity to receive care that would otherwise be inaccessible.

As the programme continues over the next few days, it is expected to transform the lives of hundreds of individuals, offering not just treatment but hope, a clear demonstration of compassion, partnership, and commitment to health equity.
