Africa-Press – Eswatini. The young people of Siphofaneni are rewriting their future through a bold blend of education and entertainment, a movement they call edutainment.
The Siphofaneni Inkhundla Youth Committee, made up of representatives from seven communities, has set its sights on tackling unemployment, nurturing entrepreneurship, and reshaping mindsets through dynamic youth-driven programmes.
Committee Chairperson, Seneme Shongwe of Nceka Community, said the initiative is about channelling the energy of young people into empowerment.
He admitted that unemployment remains a heavy burden, but said the youth were determined to rise above it.
“We’re thrilled to be growing under the ministry’s guidance,” Shongwe said.
“As youth, we’re filled with stress due to unemployment, but we’re determined to become future leaders empowered with entrepreneurship skills.”
The committee has already shown its strength. On August 1, they successfully hosted a Youth Day celebration that drew companies, organisations, and government representatives to Siphofaneni.
The event provided a platform for young people to learn about funding opportunities, network with professionals, and showcase their talent.
Their objectives, Shongwe explained, are simple but powerful: to create platforms where youth can access resources, encourage entrepreneurship, inform peers about constituency funds, and make empowerment fun through edutainment.
Looking ahead, the committee has lined up activities to sustain the momentum. A major highlight is a youth trip to Richard’s Bay on December 6, 2025, designed to refresh, inspire, and refocus young people on building their futures.
The committee believes that edutainment, using creativity, peer engagement, and fun to deliver lessons, can help shift the focus of youth from “unnecessary issues” to growth and productivity.
With their energy, determination, and vision, the Siphofaneni youth are not just looking for change, they are driving it.
