The Matsapha-based company has donated E200 000 cash and the other E200 000 was in form of bottled water, which would be used for the duration of the cultural ceremony.

SOMI Managing Director (MD) Muhammed Daud confirmed that indeed, SOMI was part of the companies that donated for the catering of Incwala. The MD said the company donated E200 000 cash, as well as bottled water and soft drinks worth E200 000.

The MD expressed happiness that his company was part of the organisations that donated towards Incwala. He said he was happy that his company operated in Eswatini, one of the few countries that preserved their cultural heritages. He also expressed gratitude to His Majesty the King for giving himself time to open SOMI back in July this year.

SOMI was part of the companies that donated gifts worth E21.1 million to cater for Incwala Ceremony this past Thursday (December 5, 2024) at Ngabezweni Royal Residence. The products included cattle, water, groceries, soft drinks, and other products.

Receiving the products, His Majesty King Mswati III expressed gratitude to all the companies and individuals who donated. According to reports from the local media houses, the king was heard saying, “kutawuphekwa nga galaza,” a SiSwati proverb meaning, “there will be plenty of food.”

The king was further reported as having likened the gifts to what is known in SiSwati as ‘umdumezulu,’ which can be translated to ‘surplus’ in English. The king told the people who donated that he never thought that at some point, people would donate products to the tune of E21 million to cater for Incwala, an event which started over many centuries ago.

Some of the companies that donated include Eswatini Government, which donated 65 cattle. Cabinet, Stefanutti Stocks and the Central Bank of Eswatini donated 10 cows each.
