Africa-Press – Eswatini. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Lin Chia-lung has arrived in Eswatini to be part of His Majesty King Mswati III’s 57th Birthday, among other events.
His Excellency (HE) Chia-lung has landed in the Kingdom of Eswatini, through King Mswati III International Airport shortly after 2pm on April 22, 2025. According to reports from various media houses, the Taiwanese Special Envoy was welcomed by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Pholile Shakantu. Taiwan’s Ambassador to Eswatini HE Jeremy Liang was among those that received the minister.
According to a programme sent to this publication, the minister is supposed to meet with Taiwanese nationals who are resident in the country and in other countries in the SADC region. This will happen in a form of a dinner, which will take place at Happy Valley Hotel in Ezulwini. The event is supposed to start at 6pm up until 8:40pm.
On April 23, 2025, the envoy is set to meet Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini from 9am to 9:30am. After that, he will visit the new headquarters of the Central Bank of Eswatini, which are situated in Ezulwini. He will then visit the nearby International Convention Centre and Five Star Hotel (ICC & FISH).
From 10:30am, he will attend the achievement presentation of the Women’s Micro Financing Revolving Fund at Sibane Sami Hotel in Ezulwini. He will spend two hours at the event. He will then head to Ludzidzini Royal Residence to have an audience with Her Majesty the Indlovukazi. After that, he will head to Lozitha Royal Palace to have an audience with His Majesty King Mswati III.
On the same day, Minister Chia-lung will attend the unveiling ceremony of the Strategic Oil Reserve Facility. On April 24, 2025, the envoy will attend the launch of the Operation Centre of the Eswatini Government 5G Network and Smart City Development Project, which will be held at the Municipal Council of Mbabane.
He will also meet with Minister Shakantu, before signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Countering Information Manipulation. He will then take part in a lunch that will be hosted by his counterpart from Eswatini. All of these events will take place at Royal Villas in Ezulwini. He will also inspect the Taiwan Embassy in Mbabane and visit the Tex-Ray company, with the last event of the day being a dinner at Luxy Garden.
On April 25, 2025, the minister will start by visiting Mbabane Government Hospital before taking part in the King’s Birthday celebration in Nhlangano. He will wrap up his day by taking part in the King’s birthday banquet. On the following day, he will start by visiting the Hlane Royal National Park, before departing for Taiwan at 3pm, via the King Mswati III International Airport.
