Africa-Press – Eswatini. Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, the Minister of Tinkhundla has unleashed Hlathikhulu Police Officers to harass elderly citizens(bo-Gogo naboMkhulu) within his Nkwene area who received food parcels editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.
This comes after the editor donated ten thousand Rands(R10,000.00) to assist elderly citizens who were affected by the recent floods.
Worth-noting, the Tinkhundla Minister once worked with the editor in building houses for the poor at Nkwene and that was before he won elections, the building of the houses was partly funded by the editor and his partners.
It is alleged that, the Tinkhundla Minister, a former police officer, unleashed the Hlathikhulu Police officers amid fears that the editor might be assisting someone to win elections by donating the food parcels to the elderly.
6086 Detective Andrew Khaba was busy on Friday driving around Nkwene, harassing the beneficiaries and forcing them to explain how they received the food from the editor.
The Tinkhundla Minister failed to respond when asked why he unleashed the police to harasss the elderly citizens who benefited from the donation.
On another note, Swaziland News editor said he personally contacted the Minister on Tuesday morning seeking clarity why he acted so evil against the poor citizens and,he didn’t get a convincing answer.
“Before elections, the Tinkhundla Minister saw an article in the Swaziland News that we were building houses for the poor at Nkwene and he asked to assist, at the time he was an ordinary citizen.I allowed him to be part of the project because as a person I know, for me it was about assisting the poor. Now I understand that he was positioning himself to win elections by asking to be part of the building of houses project. Now he is sending police officers to harass elderly citizens who received the food parcels because he thinks it’s political, I might be assisting someone to win elections. Utidvonsela sicalekiso nje ngekuhlukubeta labantfu labadzala,” said the editor.
On another note, the beneficiaries told this publication that, detective Andrew Khaba warned them not to tell the editor that, they were questioned about the food.
“Litsite leliphoyisa lakaKhaba singabese siyamtsengisa sitjela Zwemart,” said one of the beneficiaries.
When questioned by the editor on Tuesday morning, detective Khaba denied harassing the elderly but said, the visit was merely meant to congratulate them for receiving the food from Dlamini.
“I was not harassing them Nkhosi but the visit was merely meant to congratulate them,” said the Hlathikhulu Police Officer.
Eswatini has about 70% of the population living below the poverty line, the Tinkhundla Government is suppressing efforts to assist the poor.
