Vusi Manoma Masango, the National Commissioner of Police held a secret meeting with leaders of the Correctional Services Union at the Police Headquarters on Monday, he was allegedly appealing for support in accepting two-percent(2%) salary increment Government offer on behalf of junior police officers.
The National Commissioner and the representatives from the Correctional Services will then meet Government officials from the Ministry of Public Service on Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson, declined to comment.
But Sergeant Dumsile Khumalo, the Secretary General of the Royal Eswatini Police Staff Association(REPOSA) confirmed receiving information about the secret meeting between the National Commissioner and the Correctional Services Union.
“We are surprised because these negotiations must be between the Ministry of Public Service and junior officers including Correctional Services officers not the National Commissioner. He is now lobbying the Correctional Services Union to support him in accepting 2% on our behalf. Asifuni sabo 2% tsine sifuna Phase two(II) as per the 2014 Government Circular,” said the REPOSA Secretary General.
