Africa-Press – Eswatini. “You are the living proof of our national mission.” These were the powerful opening words from Minister of Education and Training Owen Nxumalo as he addressed graduates at the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology ceremony held at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre today.
With those words, the Minister captured the spirit of the day, one filled with pride, accomplishment, and the promise of a brighter Eswatini.
He congratulated the Class of 2025 for their dedication and success, describing their achievement as both personal and patriotic.
Nxumalo said the graduates represent the human capital Eswatini has been cultivating to drive its national development strategy forward.
“The world no longer rewards what you know, it rewards what you can do,” he emphasized.
“Competency-based education is the new standard. You are creators, coders, designers, and problem solvers.”
Drawing lessons from global education systems, the Minister cited Finland, Singapore, and Germany as examples of how competency-based education fosters innovation and economic resilience. He also noted that African countries such as Rwanda and Kenya are embracing similar reforms to meet the demands of a fast-changing digital economy.
“These examples show us that CPE is not a trend, it is a transformation,” Nxumalo said. “It is the bridge between education and economic resilience.”
Encouraging graduates to be innovators and lifelong learners, he reminded them that today’s skills are tomorrow’s foundation.
Nxumalo reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting young professionals through the Eswatini Higher Education Council (ESHEC) and through strategic partnerships linking education, innovation, and industry.
“We are investing in frameworks that make learning more flexible, personalized, and relevant, because the future belongs to those who can adapt, apply, and lead,” he said.
As he concluded, the Minister urged graduates to carry Eswatini’s culture and values into every innovation they pursue.
“Class of 2025, you are competent, creative, and future-ready,” Nxumalo declared. “Go forth and build a future that is prosperous, progressive, and proudly Eswatini.”
The ceremony celebrated not only academic excellence but also Eswatini’s vision of an empowered, skilled generation shaping the nation’s future with confidence and creativity.
