Youth Empowerment and Mental Health Dialogue in Eswatini

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Empowering young minds to rise above pressure, pursue purpose, and protect mental health.

In a bold effort to address the growing pressures faced by students in Eswatini, Echo PR & Events in collaboration with United Against Depression (U.A.D) is set to host a transformative engagement titled Youth Empowerment & Mental Health Dialogue on Friday, 27 June 2025 at the Limkokwing University Wings Café from 9 AM to 12 PM.

According to Smangele Mamba, the event coordinator, the dialogue was inspired by the real-life struggles students face while trying to balance academic expectations with personal lifestyle challenges. “Without motivation and encouragement, the mind tends to spiral into a negative space, which can trigger a chain reaction that often leads to depression and mental health issues,” Mamba explained.

The event’s theme, Empowered Minds, Empowered Lives, captures its mission to uplift, educate, and guide young people especially tertiary students through motivation, mentorship, and open discussions on sensitive issues.

Key topics to be addressed include:

Mental health awareness and support

Crime and its psychological impact

Substance abuse and recovery

Academic pressure and burnout

The dialogue also aims to:

Teach resilience and adaptability in overcoming personal and academic challenges

Encourage students to actively pursue their dreams through motivational talks

Connect students with industry professionals and mentors who can guide them through their education and into meaningful careers

The Youth Empowerment initiative, based in Mbabane Sidvwashini, plays a major role in this event. This movement focuses on nurturing entrepreneurial thinking and equipping youth with tools such as financial planning, business development, and access to small business loans. The goal is to turn young people’s ambitions into viable enterprises and cultivate a new generation of economically independent leaders.

Likewise, United Against Depression (U.A.D) is on a mission to reduce the rising toll of depression and suicide among youth. Their call to action is clear: “Together we can conquer depression. We are our brother’s keepers.”

The dialogue will be hosted by popular MC Fiso Ntwane, with live performances from Mabhengeta The Poet, Linda Mdluli, and others who will infuse the event with creative expression and emotional resonance.

Students and young professionals across Eswatini are encouraged to attend this powerful conversation, a chance to be inspired, seek help, and find strength among peers and mentors.
