Africa-Press – Ethiopia. Director General of the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Service, Abdulkadir Gelgelo stressed the need to have adequate health infrastructure and a resilient supply chain system to ensure continuous supply quality and effective pharmaceutical.

The third international pharmaceutical suppliers’ conference was held under the theme of “Creating Connections: Building Supply Bridges Together.”

The conference aimed to explore a spectrum of opportunities through strategic business relationships.

It is also expected create opportunities for international and local manufacturers and suppliers to assess investment opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector in Ethiopia.

Director General of the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Service, Abdulkadir Gelgelo said this conference is crucial in fostering the relationship with suppliers by broadening the base of supply chain to strengthen the competitiveness of the market.

The conference also encourages domestic production by showing the potential in favorable investment conditions in the country, he added.

He elaborated that the nation’s journey to prosperity is ensured with a citizen’s health which is vital to realizing sustainable development.

“In order to make this a reality it is necessary to have a trade with competent human resources, adequate health infrastructure, resilient and supply chain systems to ensure continued supply quality and effective pharmaceutical,” he elaborated.

Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Service covers 83 percent of the supply of pharmaceuticals and medical in the country.

Therefore, such a conference will create a strategic partnership by discussing the challenge faced by international suppliers during business relationships, he added.
