Recently, the government of Ethiopia issued a statement regarding the first anniversary of the signing of the “Agreement For Lasting Peace through a Permanent Cessation of Hostilities”
The statement noted “the government has shown its unwavering commitment to the implementation of the agreement through a number of bold and decisive measures to build trust and consolidate peace.”

He asserted that by strengthening partnerships among African countries, all African problems can be solved by Africans.
The AU has made efforts to harmonize rights of different African countries so that Africans can have an approximate position, he said.
“Even if all 55 African countries have their own national laws, we’re trying to harmonize them so as to have common positions. Within the AU, we are trying to establish common positions in many areas. For example, on climate justice, we’re trying to reach a common position that our continent is a victim of climate change, as Western countries are the biggest contributors to pollution.”
The ambassador also said that the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCTA is one of the African Union’s flagship projects.
While Africa has been liberated politically, and now it is time to be liberated economically, he said.
He added that Agenda 2063 and AFCTA are best initiatives to pave the way for economic independence.
The construction of road infrastructures and silencing of the guns foster the efforts of freeing the continent from economic dependence, the ambassador said.
” AFCTA facilitates trade between African countries and will also increase the rate of circulation of goods and services. It’s a great opportunity for Africa, and I think it’s a good initiative”, he noted.
