Africa-Press – Ethiopia. African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, called on the international community to stand with Africa by ensuring climate finance is fair.

AU Commission Chairperson remarked this today in his speech at the official opening of the Second Global Climate Week being held in Addis Ababa.

Organized under the theme “Dialogues for Ambition and Implementation,” the six-day event is hosted by Ethiopia in collaboration with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The gathering brought together representatives and a wide range of stakeholders from across the globe.

In his address to this pivotal gathering, Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf called on the international community to stand with Africa by ensuring climate finance is fair, the transfer of technology is effective, and capacity building is prioritized.

Africa prepares to host the Africa climate summit next week; the insight and momentum during this climate week will be instrumental, he pointed out.

“Together we will amplify a unified African voice we are seeking climate implementation, fair transition, and resource mobilization ahead of COP30.”

Youssouf further affirmed that the African Union is resolute in its leadership and partnerships on this critical journey.

“Let us seize this defining moment to transform ambition into tangible action for the sake of future generations,” he underlined.

The Chairperson finally urged for unison to build a resilient, sustainable, and prosperous Africa and the entire planet.
