Ethiopian Easter is celebrated to commemorate Jesus Christ’s resurrection following his crucifixion on Good Friday.

The celebration of Easter in Ethiopia marks the end of fasting for nearly two months.

On Eve, faithful spend the night in churches attending in ritual services until 3 a.m. and they break their fast.

Religious leaders in Ethiopia in their message on the celebration of Easter emphasized the significance of the holiday as a time to pray for peace and security of humankind, and to extend helping hand to those in need.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed for his part expressed his strong confidence that Ethiopia has the power to overcome challenges and its long awaited brightest day will come.
