Africa-Press – Gambia. The National Assembly Select Committee mandated to investigate the sale and disposal of assets belonging to former President Yahya Jammeh has concluded a two-day capacity-building training in preparation for its forthcoming public hearings.

According to an official statement from the National Assembly, the training was facilitated by legal experts, forensic auditors, and governance specialists. The objective was to equip committee members with the requisite skills and knowledge to carry out a thorough and professional inquiry into the handling of the former president’s assets.

Hon. Abdoulie Ceesay, Chairperson of the Special Select Committee, underscored the significance of the training, stating that it is essential for the committee to execute its mandate with integrity, transparency, and professionalism.

“Hon. Abdoulie Ceesay, the Chairperson of the Special Select Committee, emphasised the importance of training, highlighting the crucial role of the committee to ensure its mandate is carried out with integrity, transparency, and professionalism,” the statement reads.

Also addressing the event, Mr. Buba M.E. Jatta, Deputy Clerk for Administration and Finance, affirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to good governance. He highlighted the inquiry’s role in boosting the Assembly’s credibility and reinforcing its dedication to transparency and accountability.
