Dr Mamadou Tangara Resigns as Foreign Minister

Africa-Press – Gambia. Dr. Mamadou Tangara, Gambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, has reportedly tendered his resignation, according to a report by The Republic newspaper.

Dr. Tangara, who was reappointed to the foreign affairs portfolio in 2018 for a third term, is said to have submitted his resignation letter to President Adama Barrow earlier this week, formally notifying him of his decision to step down.

Sources informed that Dr. Tangara has been appointed as the African Union’s Special Representative for the Sahel and the West African sub-region. He reportedly received his official letter of appointment two weeks ago.
