Africa-Press – Gambia. Fabakary Tombong Jatta, leader of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC), has called for reconciliation and unity between his faction and the APRC ‘No to Alliance’ group as the party positions itself for the 2026 presidential elections.

Speaking at the APRC “Road to 2026” rally in Sinchu Alagie, Jatta emphasized the need for cooperation within the party, despite existing internal divisions.

“We don’t hate anybody, not even our enemies, let alone those within the same political family. The APRC, including the ‘No to Alliance’ group, must work together for the betterment of our party,” Jatta told supporters.

He further noted that former president Yahya Jammeh should not be blamed for the rift within the party, arguing that misinformation contributed to the divisions.

“I don’t blame former president Jammeh because whatever he knows, he was told by others. It is those who fed him with misinformation that created problems. Many of us have sacrificed greatly for the APRC, so how can anyone say we do not love the party?” Jatta asked.

Calling for forgiveness and renewal, Jatta urged members to put aside differences and prepare the ground for the younger generation.

“If all these issues are happening because of us, very soon our time will pass, and leadership will rest with the youth. Let us forgive one another because nobody is perfect,” he said.

Reaffirming his leadership, Jatta stressed that “there is only one APRC in The Gambia, which is led by Fabakary Tombong Jatta, as confirmed by the Independent Electoral Commission.”

He concluded with another appeal for unity, stating, “APRC members everywhere, let us all come together. That is how we can strengthen ourselves, contribute to national development, and honor our former leader, President Yahya Jammeh.”
