Africa-Press – Gambia. President Adama Barrow has expressed deep appreciation to Gambians for their strong turnout at the National People’s Party’s first-ever fundraising gala, according to the Party’s Deputy Spokesman, Seedy S.K. Njie.
The event, held on Saturday, 24th May at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre, attracted thousands from across the country and is being described as the largest political fundraiser in Gambian history.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Njie said the turnout represents a resounding vote of confidence in President Barrow’s leadership and the NPP’s development agenda. “This unprecedented support reflects the trust Gambians have in the government’s commitment to improving their socio-economic well-being,” Njie noted.
He said that the event was organised by the NPP’s Resource Mobilization Team under the leadership of Hagie Baniko Sissoho, who he commended for his “dedication, tireless coordination and organisational prowess.”
According to Njie, the fundraiser showcased more than just financial support; it symbolised unity and trust in the NPP’s direction. “It was a clear indication of the strong confidence the people have in the Party,” he said.
Njie said President Barrow reaffirmed his government’s commitment to upholding the social contract with the Gambian people, pledging to serve with “diligence, integrity, and a steadfast resolve.”
He described the event as “historic” and credited its success to strategic planning, national mobilisation, and the passion of supporters from all regions.
“The NPP is not only growing stronger; it is deepening its roots in every corner of the country,” Njie said, adding that the Party remains focused on development, service delivery, and transparent governance.
