Barrow Promises Development and Growth for Gambians

Africa-Press – Gambia. President Adama Barrow has pledged more development initiatives for the country, assuring Gambians that the coming years will witness increased growth-oriented actions compared to previous periods.

Speaking at a political rally in Gambissara in the Upper River Region (URR), President Barrow said the achievements recorded during his earlier years in office were made under challenging circumstances, describing himself at the time as both a “driver and an apprentice” in governance.

He states that he now considers himself more experienced and better positioned to deliver accelerated development, citing stronger partnerships with both local and international development partners.

“In the coming years, our development achievements will surpass the progress already made,” the President said. “I have gained more wisdom, developed better plans, and built stronger connections with development partners within and outside the country. More importantly, I now understand governance better.”

Mr Barrow emphasised that his administration prioritises implementation over rhetoric, arguing that tangible development results from action rather than prolonged discussions.

He highlighted various achievements recorded over the past nine years, noting that development projects were visible across different parts of the country.

Reaffirming his commitment to rural development, the President said several road projects in the Upper River Region were included in the government’s plans. He also encouraged residents to register with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and participate in the electoral process, stressing that voting represented a social contract between citizens and elected leaders.
