Africa-Press – Gambia. Businessman and political activist Baboucarr “Bob” Keita has made explosive claims about a recent conversation he allegedly had with President Adama Barrow, alleging that the President criticized Senegalese Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, and issued a thinly veiled threat over Keita’s stance against a third presidential term.
Keita, a leading figure in the GALA movement, posted the allegations on Facebook shortly after his release from detention. He stated that President Barrow was angered by an interview in which Keita argued that the president should not seek a third term in office.
According to Keita, the President said, “You want to be like Ousmane Sonko of Senegal—that’s why he will never be president, because he is rude and arrogant. And if you’re not careful, I’ll lock you up.”
The comments, if confirmed, could raise diplomatic eyebrows and fuel domestic political tensions, especially among activists advocating for democratic norms and term limits. As of now, the presidency has not responded publicly to the allegations.
