Africa-Press – Gambia. Foni Bintang District Football team over the weekend defeated Foni Kansala District Football team 1-0 in their semi-final match played at the Sibanor Football Field to reach the final of the 2023 Foni inter-district football tournament.
The semi-final clash between Foni Bintang and Foni Kansala attracted spectators and football stakeholders from Foni and its satellite areas.
Both sides played brilliant fascinating football and created goal scoring opportunities.
Francis Gomez gave Foni Bintang the lead in the 68th minute of the match, which eventually proved to be the winner for the Foni Bintang boys.
Foni Kansala fought back for an equaliser and created goal scoring opportunities.
Modou Sanyang could have levelled the scores for Foni Kansala in the 74th minute of the match but his effort went away thus the match ended 1-0 in favour of Foni Bintang.
The win earns Foni Bintang a place in the final of the 2023 Foni inter-district football tournament.
Meanwhile, the 2023 Foni inter-district football tournament final will feature Foni Bintang and Foni Berefet.
