Africa-Press – Gambia. Momodou Sabally, the Special Adviser to President Adama Barrow, Wednesday received a delegation from Foñi that adopted him as a father.

The delegation was headed by Isatou Jarju, the ‘Alkalo’ (village head) of Manyina village in Foñi and the ‘Alkalo’ of Busumbala, Belong Jatta and they were received in Mr. Sabally’s family home in Lamin.

The two ‘Alkalolu’ (village heads) both assured their support for President Adama Barrow in the coming 2026 presidential election.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Sabally, the Special Adviser to the president said he felt vindicated with the revelations surrounding the sale of former President Yahya Jammeh’s assets.

He underscores his arguments long ago against the Janneh Commission on the sale of the properties and now it has come to light and it’s vividly seen by every Gambian.

He states that everyone who is now advocating for transparency and condemning the manner in which the former president’s properties were sold, is just echoing his earlier advocacy that the Janneh Commission has no legal authority to sell these assets.

“Since the government seized these assets, and the Janneh Commission started selling them. I was the first Gambian to voice out a condemnation of the sales of Jammeh’s assets. I told the Commission that it had no legal authority to do the selling,” Sabally recalled. “Those who were disregarding, insulting, and condemning me are now in the same lane with me. And i still stand by my words about these irregularities,” he told the visiting Foñi delegation.

Sabally then praised President Barrow for boldly addressing the issue by setting up a parliamentary inquiry to probe into the “illegal” sales of the properties by the commission so that everything surrounding the sales would be cleared to all Gambians and the law and truth would prevail.
