Gambia requires strong structures to excel in int’l football

Gambia needs proper structures in place for the country’s national teams to excel in international football and qualify for major competitions.

The Scorpions were eliminated from the 2022 World Cup after losing to Angola 3-1 on aggregate in the preliminary qualifiers.

The country’s football governing body; Gambia Football Federation (GFF) must invest heavily to improve football grounds, coaches and players. They also need to seek sponsorship for the national division one and two leagues and improve the status of leagues to scout for players.

National team coaches must be free to execute their job without any interference from football authorities and individuals to excel and qualify for major competitions.

The country’s football authorities need to motivate players to perform well in the international football and also qualify the nation to the Africa Cup of Nations and World cup.
