Africa-Press – Gambia. The wrongful termination of contract case filed by journalist Kemeseng Sanneh against Alport Banjul Limited could not proceed on Thursday, 12 February 2026 because the presiding judge was said to be outside the jurisdiction of the court.
Proceedings at the High Court were expected to begin with the opening of the plaintiff’s case, but the matter was adjourned by the court clerk due to the judge’s absence.
Sanneh, popularly known as “Kexx”, was present in court awaiting the hearing against his former employer when the adjournment was announced. The case has now been rescheduled for 12th March 2026, when the court is expected to begin hearing the merits of the suit.
The lawsuit arises from Sanneh’s dismissal from the company in July 2025. He alleged that his contract was terminated via a WhatsApp message following his participation in a peaceful protest organised by Gambians Against Looted Assets.
In filing his claims, Sanneh maintains that his anti-corruption activism is undertaken in his personal capacity and did not breach the terms of his employment contract.
He is seeking damages for breach of contract, citing loss of income and opportunities, including an annual contract valued at D150,000 and other partnerships he said he declined in order to honour his commitment to the company.
The court is now expected to determine, at the next hearing, whether the termination was lawful.
