National Assembly Inquiry Committee Commences Work, Pledges Transparency

Africa-Press – Gambia. The Special Select Committee established to investigate the sale and disposal of assets linked to former President Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh officially began its sittings on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. The committee has committed to conducting its work in a transparent and impartial manner.

In an official statement, the Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly announced: “The Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly wishes to inform the public that the Special Select Committee established to Inquire into the Sale and Disposal of Assets identified by the Commission of Inquiry into the financial activities of public bodies, enterprises and offices as regards to their dealings with former President, Yahya A.J.J Jammeh and connected matters has commenced its sittings today, Wednesday 21st May 2025, to review its Strategic Work Plan.”

The Strategic Work plan outlines the committee’s mandate, objectives, and operational framework, guiding its proceedings with a focus on evidence-based inquiry and accountability.

The statement further noted that the committee will soon communicate its timeline and schedule of hearings. It will invite members of the public, relevant individuals, and public institutions to appear as witnesses. In keeping with procedural guidelines, all committee sittings will be open to the public. The committee also called on all stakeholders to support this important national exercise.
