Africa-Press – Gambia. In a tightly contested encounter, Wellingara United held New Town FC to a 1-1 draw in the ongoing Brikama Sports Committee (BSC) Summer Nawettan tournament.

Both teams entered the match eager to strengthen their positions ahead of the next stage of the competition. Before the game, New Town held a narrow one-point advantage over Wellingara United in the group standings.

Wellingara United struck first through Juma Bah, who calmly slotted home following a brilliant assist from Abdoulie Jallow in the first half. The home side’s early lead was quickly neutralized in the 55th minute when Ousman K. Sidibeh unleashed a long-range strike that left the Wellingara goalkeeper helpless, leveling the scores at 1-1.

Elsewhere, Superstars FA claimed their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over already qualified Top Ten FC. Despite the win, Superstars FA remain at risk of relegation and must rely on results from other group matches to determine their fate.

The results underscore the competitive nature of this year’s Nawettan, with teams battling fiercely not only for advancement but also to avoid relegation.
