Africa-Press – Ghana. A Catholic Priest has urged prophets in Ghana to be guided by Christian ethics and exhibit a high sense of maturity, civility and prudence in discharging and interpreting prophecies.
The Reverend Father Albert Kyei Danso, the Chaplain at the Holy Family Ghanaian Catholic Community Church, Pordenone, Italy, gave the advice in an interview in Sunyani.
He said: “When godly prophecies are abused and misinterpreted, they cause more harm than good,” and asked the prophets to desist from reading spiritual meanings to “every incident.”
He urged them to be guided by Christian morals and political ethics in building a better society. Rev Fr Danso said false prophecies threatened national peace, security and social cohesion, and advised the clergy to prioritize and contribute to progressive growth and development of the nation.
He said prophets ought to be more discerning in the discharge of their divine callings and mandates, saying “the nation does not need a Presidential Envoy to receive prophecies for government.
” Rev Fr Danso said: “Prophets serve as the mouthpiece of God, communicating the mind of God and interceding for the people. “Sometimes it isn’t everything God reveals to his Prophets is what is meant for the nation.”
“A prophet does not receive prophecy and just communicates that as the final truth. It can be a deceit because the devil also reveals through sorceries, divination and magical powers to deceive the people,” he stated.
Rev Fr Danso said: “The Apostles and Bishops are there to discern and vet the authenticity of the prophecies, considering when, how, through whom and under what circumstances the prophecy came.”
He said the prophetic ministry played a crucial role in nation building and urged the clergy not to use the ministry to score political points, media hype, and for personal gains.
